Mission

BeautynFacts exists to give readers accurate, evidence-based beauty information free from commercial distortion. The beauty industry saturates the market with products that use exaggerated claims, influencer sponsorships, and junk science. Our mission is to explain what the evidence actually shows — the ingredient concentrations that are effective, the conditions that warrant professional care, and the products that genuinely deliver on their promises.

Editorial Standards

All articles are written by writers with beauty industry or science communication backgrounds and reviewed by a licensed esthetician before publication. Our sourcing hierarchy is (1) peer-reviewed dermatological and cosmetic science literature; (2) guidance from recognised dermatology and cosmetology boards; (3) well-sourced secondary sources from medical publishers. We do not cite press releases, brand websites, or uncontrolled social media testimonials as primary evidence.

Claims about ingredient efficacy are qualified by the concentration and formulation context in which the evidence applies. A study showing that 10% niacinamide reduces hyperpigmentation does not justify claiming that any product with niacinamide has that effect. We note these distinctions explicitly.

Expert Review Process

Every article published on BeautynFacts is reviewed by a licensed aesthetician before it goes live. The reviewer’s role is to verify factual accuracy, flag unsupported claims, confirm that product recommendations are grounded in ingredient evidence, and identify any content that should carry a “see a dermatologist” recommendation. You will see the reviewer’s name and credentials in a “Reviewed by” line at the top of each article. The reviewer is an independent contractor who has no financial interest in the products discussed.

How We Test Products

Where products are tested hands-on, we follow a structured protocol: a minimum four-week consistent use on real volunteers with a range of skin types (dry, oily, combination, and sensitive); before-and-after photo documentation under standardised lighting; and a structured rating across consistency, scent, absorption, visible results, and skin tolerance. Products received as press samples are disclosed. We do not accept payment, discounted pricing, or special incentives in exchange for favourable coverage.

Affiliate Relationships

Some articles contain affiliate links. BeautynFacts participates in affiliate programmes, including Amazon Associates and similar networks. If you purchase through an affiliate link, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence editorial coverage in any way: we do not change ratings, rankings, or recommendations based on affiliate availability, commission rate, or merchant relationship. Every applicable article carries a disclosure block at the top of the content. If a product is not available via an affiliate partner, we link to it directly with no commercial benefit to us.

Conflict of Interest

Writers and reviewers are required to disclose any personal or professional relationship with a brand or product they cover. BeautynFacts does not accept editorial briefs from brands, does not allow brands to review content before publication, and does not accept payment for editorial placement, positive reviews, or coverage volume. No brand has ever paid us to appear in our content or influenced how we describe their products.

Sponsored Content

BeautynFacts does not currently publish sponsored content (paid articles, branded content, or advertorials). If this changes, all sponsored content will be labelled clearly with “Sponsored” or “Advertisement” in the headline and a disclosure note at the top of the article.

AI and Automation

BeautynFacts uses AI-assisted tools as part of the article drafting and editing workflow. All AI-assisted content is substantively reviewed, edited, and approved by a human writer before publication and reviewed by a licensed aesthetician before going live. AI-generated text that has not been reviewed and approved by a human editor is never published. We disclose this policy in the interest of transparency.

Corrections Policy

We take factual accuracy seriously. If you spot an error — a misquoted study, incorrect ingredient information, or outdated guidance — please report it via our contact form with “Correction” in the subject line. We investigate every report. Substantive corrections are made to the article, and a “Correction notice” is appended noting what was changed and when. We do not silently delete or alter content without disclosure.
